The latest product to be offered by Japan's No. 1 maker of plum wine is Choya Ume Blanc. This beautiful wine is off-dry, low in alcohol and made without sulfites. Meant to be served as a table wine, rather than dessert wine, it pairs with a much wider assortment of dishes than its Ume-shu counterpart. Ume Blanc is semi-sweet, similar to Riesling or Vouvray, and matches nicely with rich, spicy dishes such as Thai Curried Chicken. Tastes are reminiscent of lychee, green apple and pear.
